Student financial aid (Kela support)

As a Finnish citizen studying full-time in upper secondary education (for instance, an upper secondary school, a vocational school, or a folk high school), you can get study grant for students from Kela. There are different criteria you have to meet to get these benefits and different criteria also apply to the benefit amounts. Read more on Kela’s website.

If you have come to Finland to study but you are not a Finnish citizen, you usually do not qualify for student financial aid from Finland. For more information, visit Kela’s website.

Studies with a reduced fee

With support from the Finnish National Agency for Education, VNF can offer students (who reside in Finland) the opportunity to apply for a reduced tuition fee. The distribution of funding is determined by the criteria set by the financier. Specific target groups include the unemployed, individuals with a low level of basic education, as well as persons with a learning difficulty.

More information and an application form for a reduced tuition fee can be requested via: info@vnf.fi

Citizens outside EU

Please note that the Finnish government does not provide a residence permit for one-year studies at Folk High Schools.
