Open Minds Network
About the Project
The project sets the basis for a Nordic cooperation and exchange network on the theme of lifelong learning for adults with disabilities.
The Open Minds Network starts from the premises that people with disabilities should have access to high quality lifelong learning opportunities and a lot of such opportunities have been developed by organisations throughout the Nordic countries, we want to focus on building a structural framework for exchange of good practice. The focus of the network is on identifying, exchanging and developing learning programmes that involve arts as a method of learning in its widest sense, from improving self-expression through painting to highly skilled computer-based media development. Another premise for participation in the network is encouraging programmes where people with disabilities do things by themselves for themselves, taking ownership of the learning process as much as possible and getting thus empowered.
The project is supported by Nordplus and Sophie von Julins stiftelse.
